The cool crisp air is starting to arrive, ushering in fall and the high school football season. This year, the Osseo High School Football Team is scheduled to play in a rare Saturday day game at Osseo Field. The opponent? None other than rival Maple Grove Crimson!
On Saturday, August 22, the Osseo Orioles will play host to the neighboring Crimson from Maple Grove in one of the most highly anticipated dates on the MN High School football calendar. Kickoff will be at 2:00 PM.
We’ve planned a whole day of festivities to get you ready for the big game. Starting at 8:00 AM we’ll host a free (although donations are welcomed) pancake breakfast complete with all the fixings, sponsored by the Osseo Football Booster Club. The breakfast will take place at the Osseo Community Center, located in Osseo City Hall. All are welcome as we fill the stomachs of our players, friends, and family before the game. Central Ave in front of City Hall will be closed to traffic to allow fans access to Boerboom Park as they enjoy breakfast. Breakfast wraps up around 10:00 AM.
Then, we’ve planned a huge parade as the football players march down Central Ave and back up 1st Ave NW towards the stadium to prepare for the game. Members of the Osseo Police Department, Osseo Fire Department, Osseo American Legion, as well as the Osseo pep band and Cheerleaders, will escort the entire team through downtown Osseo. Be sure to pack the parade route and cheer on our local high school football team! The parade begins at City Hall, travels south on Central Ave, turns west at 2nd Street NW, turns north at 1st Ave NW and then continues to the football stadium from 6th Street NW. Be sure to wear your orange and black to support Oriole athletics!
But that’s not all…while in downtown Osseo before the game, pick up your Osseo Business Passport and visit local businesses on Central Ave. Collect your sticker for visiting each business and submit your completed passport as you enter the football game. A winner will be randomly drawn at half time and will receive a grand prize!
Come celebrate this rare Saturday home game with the City of Osseo and cheer on the Oriole football team! Don’t forget to wear your orange and black… GO ORIOLES!!!
